Highlights

Loire Valley: During the 17th and 18th Centuries, when the monarchy was at the height of its power and prestige, this area was where they chose to build their magnificent Chateaux. Most of them have been restored to their former glory and are open to the public. The 634 mile Loire Valley is one of France’s largest wine producing areas with names that are known throughout the world from Chinon and Bourgueil in the west, to Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in the east. They produce wine of all types, red, white, rose and sparkling.

Brittany: The name derives from the Britons who in the 5th and 6th centuries settled in this area after fleeing western England and Wales to escape from the invading Anglo Saxons. Bretons still proudly protect their Celtic language, heritage and culture. The coastline is spectacularly rugged and the interior contains many quaint medieval towns. While the traditional fishery has declined, tourism is now becoming a very important industry.
